A New Chapter in the M Story
Leica proudly introduces the Leica M EV1, marking a significant milestone in the legendary M-System. For the first time, the M family welcomes an integrated electronic viewfinder (EVF), combining the timeless design and craftsmanship of the Leica M with advanced digital precision. This addition continues Leica’s legacy of innovation while preserving the essence of pure, manual photography.
Built-In Electronic Viewfinder
The Leica M EV1 features a 5.76-megapixel, 0.5-inch electronic viewfinder with 0.76x magnification, delivering exceptional clarity, accurate color reproduction, and brilliant image quality. It includes integrated diopter adjustment from -4 to +2 dpt and an eye sensor that automatically switches between the viewfinder and LCD panel. The EVF provides a true-to-life preview of exposure and composition, ensuring photographers always see exactly what they capture.
Advanced Focus Assistants
Manual focusing on the M EV1 is intuitive and precise. The camera introduces Focus Peaking, which highlights sharp areas in color, Focus Aid (Magnification) for detailed zoom-in views at two levels, and a Digital Zoom function of 1.3x or 1.8x that crops JPEGs while preserving full RAW files. These tools make critical focusing effortless for every shooting situation, from landscapes to macro photography.
Intuitive FN-Button Controls
A new dual-function FN button enhances user control and customization. A long press assigns a chosen function, while a short press toggles it on or off. Focus Peaking, Focus Aid, or a traditional viewfinder experience can be activated instantly, allowing photographers to adapt quickly to different shooting environments with simple, tactile precision.
Composition Aids for Creative Precision
The M EV1 integrates helpful composition tools directly into the EVF for a seamless shooting experience. Grid lines, leveling aids, and other composition guides are visible without removing the eye from the viewfinder. This enables perfect framing and alignment in every image, supporting a smooth, uninterrupted creative workflow.
Leica Content Credentials
The Leica M EV1 supports Leica Content Credentials, ensuring image authenticity in accordance with the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI). Each image carries encrypted metadata verifying details such as camera model and version. These credentials cannot be altered without resigning, giving photographers confidence that their work remains genuine and traceable.
Unrivaled Image Quality
At its core, the Leica M EV1 houses a 60-megapixel full-frame BSI CMOS sensor renowned for its exceptional performance. Delivering up to 15 stops of dynamic range and remarkable low-light capability, it captures rich tones and sharp detail across the frame. The Maestro III processor and Triple Resolution Technology allow flexible output at 60, 36, or 18 megapixels for any workflow.
Design and Craftsmanship
Handmade in Germany, the Leica M EV1 embodies precision and simplicity in equal measure. The camera features a clean, rangefinder-free front, diamond-pattern leatherette, and a body that is 46 grams lighter than the M11-P. With 64GB of internal memory and Leica’s signature build quality, the M EV1 blends timeless design with modern performance to create an exceptional photographic experience.
