Great for Travel

Perfect pouch for travel and everyday use - space for tickets, passport, phone, etc as well as a small camera or binoculars.

Which Camera?

The Pola Stowaway certainly won't fit a DSLR but it will fit smaller cameras such as a mirrorless with a short lens, small fixed lens camera, or rangefinder. See a list of example cameras and binoculars below.

About the Main Compartment...

The main compartment is padded on all 4 sides, plus the base. This makes it ideal to protect your equipment whilst traveling.

For ease of access, the compartment features a double zip.

Hidden Pockets

The Pola Stowaway (and Airline Stowaway and Compact Stowaway) have plenty of pockets.

A zip down the side of the bag gives you access to a pocket that's ideal for a passport. The zip on the front flap is perfect for a memory card.

Another Front Pocket

Under the front flap is another deep dump pocket.

Removable Shoulder Sling

Adjust the removable shoulder sling to your height or remove it completely if you wish!

Belt Loops

Two stitched belt loops on the back to allow your hands to keep free when traveling or out in the field.

Just behind the belt loops is a deep dump pocket.

The Stowaways

The Pola, Compact, and Airline Stowaways are identical in features. The only difference between them are the dimensions.

The Airline is taller than the Compact, and the Pola is wider than the Compact.

Do I need a Shoulder Pad?

The shoulder pad isn't essential but can stop the strap from digging into your shoulder if you're carrying heavy gear inside the bag. It can also reduce the chances of the bag slipping off your shoulder. If you do buy a shoulder pad remember only the 'SP10' size fits.

Make sure to choose the color to match your bag!

What Does It Fit?
  • A rangefinder camera (e.g. Leica M9 with a small lens attached) with space for a passport, tickets, memory card, phone etc.
  • A small mirrorless camera (e.g. Olympus E-PL10, Canon EOS M200, Sony A6000, Fujifilm X-A7 with a small lens attached) with space for a passport, tickets, glasses case memory card, smartphone etc.
  • A small fixed lens camera (e.g. Fujifilm X100F, Sony RX100 VII, Leica D-Lux 7 etc) with space for a passport, tickets, Nintendo 3DS, memory card, phone etc.
  • Small-to-medium binoculars (e.g. Leica Ultravid HD-Plus 10x42 or ZEISS Victory SF 10x42) with space for passport, tickets, glasses case, iPhone etc.
  • Can be used to carry small-to-medium-sized binoculars - just double-check their size against the internal dimensions of the bag.

Can you attach dividers inside this bag?

No. The inside of this bag is made with a sheer fabric - therefore it is not possible to attach any of Billingham's Velcro® dividers inside.

However the Pola can fit some of the smaller SuperFlex Partitions inside - the 6-12, 6-15 and 7-15 sizes will fit. Please check the sizes carefully in the diagram halfway down that page - the position of the middle divider in a SuperFlex will make a big difference to what you can store inside it. These do not attach inside with Velcro but should still stay in place.

Can this fit an iPad Mini inside?

No. If you want to carry an iPad Mini please look at the 'Airline Stowaway' instead. Read the FAQs on that page for more information on carrying an iPad Mini in that bag.

What is the difference between 'Canvas' and 'FibreNyte'?

In simple terms ‘Canvas’ or ‘FibreNyte’ refers to the top layer of fabric on Billingham bags – the facecloth.

‘Canvas’ is a mix of cotton and polyester. ‘FibreNyte’ refers to the face fabric that is completely synthetic. Canvas is hard-wearing, and FibreNyte is very hard-wearing.

Both fabrics are bonded to a non-wicking polyester backing fabric with a middle layer of butyl rubber – this rubber layer makes both fabrics equally (and very) waterproof. Water can’t get through that rubber layer.

Both fabrics have a similar weave - the FibreNyte looks similar to canvas. Canvas is slightly softer to the touch, and FibreNyte is slightly rougher to the touch.

Choose Canvas if you want the bag to age gracefully and look vintage over time. This is particularly true of people who choose Billingham's ‘Khaki Canvas’ fabric as this looks particularly lovely as it ages.

Choose FibreNyte if you want the bag to look newer for longer or if they are particularly hard on their gear - for example by carrying the bag to work with them every day, doing a lot of hiking, or filling it particularly full. Also, Sage FibreNyte is particularly attractive as a color – it’s probably the most popular color among our staff!

Product information

All our shipments are fully insured. For shipments valued over $200, a direct signature will be required upon delivery.

We utilize various shipping carriers, with FedEx Express being our primary choice for 2-Day and Overnight shipping within the US, as well as International deliveries.

We accept returns within 14 days of delivery, subject to a restocking fee of up to 15%. This fee is not for profit, but to cover the costs associated with selling an item. Each return is evaluated individually, and we strive to minimize this fee. In many instances, we waive it entirely if the refund credit can be applied towards another item in the store.

Please note, all returned items must be in the condition in which they were shipped. If the items are returned in a different condition, we will not be able to accept them.

We highly recommend visiting us in person to experience our fine photographic tools before deciding which tool best fits your needs. Please note that our inventory is distributed among our three stores, and what you see online may be at any of these locations. Below are a few points that we’d like to make in order to meet your needs for in store pick up.

The location of each item is indicated online. For convenience, you can choose to pick up your item at any of our stores. Once purchased, the item should be ready for pick up within 4 hours at the designated store, although this might vary depending on the store's busyness and time of day. We request that you wait for a notification from us confirming that your order is ready for pick up, to ensure the best service.

If your chosen item is not available at your preferred store, we can transfer it there after purchase. If you want to pick up an item at a different store, select that store for pick up during checkout, or choose a regular shipping method and let us know your preferred pick up store via support@camerawest.com or by responding to your order confirmation email.

For any questions about in-store pick up, please email support@camerawest.com. We'll do our best to accommodate your needs.

We offer a concierge trade-in program for the gear you'd like to upgrade, cross-grade, or simply pass on to a new owner. This enables you to acquire the tools that fit your specific needs. The easiest way to trade is to bring your gear into one of our stores and meet with us in person. However, we also accommodate those who can't visit our stores. Our online process is both personal and simple.

To begin, fill out the form on our Trade // Sell page with the details of the fine photographic equipment or watches you'd like to trade in. One of our team members will then contact you to confirm any details we might need for an accurate estimate. We will provide an estimate that doesn’t only look at the value of your trade in but the whole picture of where you want to go. If the estimate is satisfactory to you, we can provide a shipping label for you to ship your gear to one of our stores for a final inspection and store credit. Finally, we apply that credit towards your new gear!
