Brand Leica System Leica M

The Leica Noctilux-M 50mm f/1.2 ASPH. is a faithful reinterpretation of the legendary 1966 original, the world's first serially produced lens with two aspherical elements. Leica retained the original optical calculation, adapting it only minimally to modern glass and production methods, so six elements in four groups preserve the classic character while meeting today's standards.

For you, that means a soft, almost dreamlike rendering wide open with distinctive vintage bokeh, then sharp, modern results as you stop down. The sixteen-blade aperture and click-on hood complete the experience, and the lens arrives in packaging inspired by the original, right down to the classic transparent lens container.

A Legend Reborn

This is a contemporary reinterpretation of the famous 1966 Noctilux 50mm f/1.2, of which only 1,757 units were originally produced. It was the world's first serially produced lens to feature two aspherical elements, and that heritage defines its rendering today.

Faithful Optical Design

Leica retained the original optical calculation and construction, changing it only minimally to suit modern glass types and production methods. Six elements in four groups with two aspherical surfaces preserve the classic look.

Vintage Character, Modern Capability

Wide open at f/1.2 the lens renders with a soft, almost dreamlike quality and exquisite bokeh; stopped down from f/2.8 it delivers sharp, modern images suited to high-resolution digital M bodies.

Collector-Grade Presentation

A sixteen-blade aperture with half-increment lock settings and an included click-on hood complete the design, and the lens ships in packaging inspired by the original, with the same classic transparent lens container.
