Brand Leica System Leica M

The Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 'Steel Rim' is a faithful reissue of Leica's legendary 1961 original, built around the classic non-aspherical optical design that gave that lens its distinctive character. A stainless-steel front ring plays against the black anodized body for an unmistakable look, and the rendering is pure vintage Leica — fast, atmospheric, and full of personality.

Seven elements in five groups, a focus range from 1 m, and a beautifully compact form (roughly 200 g, just 26 mm long) make this a collector's piece you'll actually want to shoot. It ships with both a clip-on rectangular hood and a screw-on E46 round hood. Reach out to our team to build the right M kit around it.

A Faithful Homage to a Legend

The black anodized Summilux-M 35 f/1.4 is inspired by the legendary original from 1961, of which only a small number of this special design variant were produced. Known as the 'Steel Rim,' the stainless-steel front ring creates a stylish counterpoint to the black parts, lending the lens an unmistakable look.

Classic Non-Aspherical Character

Unlike the current aspherical FLE II, this reissue uses the classic optical design of seven lenses in five assemblies. That's the source of its signature rendering — the atmospheric wide-open look and gentle transitions that made the original a cult favorite among M photographers.

Compact, Collectible, and Ready to Shoot

At roughly 200 g and just 26 mm long without a hood, this is one of the most pocketable fast 35s ever made. A click-stop diaphragm with half-increment settings, a focus range from 1 m to infinity, and two included lens hoods make it as practical as it is beautiful.
